Reminder: The Gershman Y’s Latkepalooza Returns Tonight, December 2 With A New Venue, Family Pre-Party And A Chef-Driven Grand Event

Hungry for more holiday feasting?

Celebrate the Festival of Lights tonight, Monday, December 2, with The Gershman Y at the 11th annual Latkepalooza holiday food festival.

This year the potato pancake extravaganza moves from The Gershman Y’s home on the Avenue of the Arts to swanky event venue Vie on North Broad Street, expanding the event’s capacity to welcome as many as six hundred guests for the first time.

In addition to the new venue, this year’s Latkepalooza features not one, but two tasting events: A family-friendly pre-party for kids from 4:30 to 6 p.m., followed by a grand tasting event geared towards the over 21 set from 7 to 9:30 p.m.

This afternoon, families should scoop up tickets to enjoy traditional potato latkes with a toppings bar and a music performance by Mama Doni and Her Rockin’ Band.

After the sun goes down, the over 21 set will converge to taste creative interpretations of latkes from a dozen Philadelphia chefs. Participating restaurants include Miss Rachel’s Pantry, Jerry’s Bar, Frankford Hall, London Grill, Sabrina’s Cafe and more.

Also for the first time, guests can participate in a tasting of must-try wines under $10 a bottle with wine expert Brian Freedman and hear top picks from a panel of local judges.

Tickets for both the family party and grand event are still available online or by calling 215-545-4400. Note that the events are ticketed separately, so two purchases are required to attend both the pre-party and after-dark affair.

Remember, past events sold out in advance so snag tickets now for a taste of Hanukkah.
