Get ready. BalletX, The Wilma Theater’s dynamic resident dance company, kicks off 2014 with Winter Series 2014, a compelling show that is set to consist of two world premieres, a company premiere and a company return.

Unlike the classic ballet performances that are more frequently the subject of performing arts, BalletX’s contemporary ballet performances always push the envelope with performances of athleticism, musicality and immense talent.

Running from February 12 to 16, Winter Series 2014 showcases the troupe’s talent through a variety of performances, many of which channel various types of dance including influences from classical, modern, contemporary and hip hop.

For its winter show, BalletX calls on Joshua L. Peugh, James Gregg and Jodie Gates to create moving works to fill the stage. Each choreographer is schooled in various kinds of dance, so expect an array of performances during Winter Series 2014.

In addition to the performances, two corresponding events are slated for the upcoming week, too. On February 12, join BalletX for A Conversation with the Artists, and on February 15, head out for A Pie, A Pint & The Process, an interactive lecture.

Tickets start at $35 for general admission, $30 for seniors and $22 for students. Tickets for the shows and corresponding events are available online.
