Philadelphia reigns as a brilliant beer town all year round.

Once a year, though, Philly Beer Week amplifies this city’s beer-fueled greatness with hundreds of festivals, dinners, pub crawls, tastings and brewer events at restaurants and other locations throughout the entire Philadelphia area over the course of 10 sudsy days.

Mark your calendars now for Philly Beer Week 2014, running Friday, May 30 through Sunday, June 8.

This year, the huge Opening Tap kick-off party is set for Friday, May 30 at the 23rd Street Armory, a brand-new, bigger venue for the bash.

Opening ceremonies, with the the tapping of the official first keg by Mayor Nutter, start at 7 p.m. and are followed by an all-out beer-tasting extravaganza featuring more than 30 breweries and 1300 attendees.

Tickets for the grand tasting are already available online, and this event does sell out, so we advise making plans now.

Regular admission is $45, VIP tickets are $90 and any designated driver can come in for $25. For more information and to check out what breweries will be represented at this year’s opening party, check right here.

Beyond Opening Tap, this year’s Philly Beer Week is already filling up with toast-worthy events. Look out for the Throwdown in Franklintown on June 1, now in its fifth year, Beerlesque: Tastings and Tassels at Boot & Saddle on June 2 and the Fishtown FestivALE blowout block party on June 7.

Also, check out hotel packages to make plans for the week here, and download the updated 2014 PBW apps, available for both iPhone and Android devices.

Stay tuned for much more on Philly Beer Week as the event approaches, and get ready to raise a pint in honor of “America’s Best Beer Drinking City.”
