Ready to take a chance on a good time?
If the name Kevin Allison sounds familiar, it’s probably because he’s well known from such television shows as MTV’s The State, Reno 911 and Flight of the Conchords.
Based on Allison’s uber-popular podcast and monthly bi-coastal show of the same name, RISK! returns to Philadelphia for the fourth time this week, bringing top-notch local storytellers to the stage at Underground Arts in Callowhill.
A departure from First Person Arts’ StorySlams — the regularly scheduled open-to-all storytelling competition — this show offers audiences a curated program of tried-and-true First Person Arts storytellers, with such performers as Thomas Dixon, Kitty Hailey, Alex Kacala and Teresa Marquard.
Like the StorySlams, though, this one-off show revolves around a theme — this time it’s “Revelations” — and definitely furthers First Person’s ultimate mission of supporting memoir and documentary art in this city.
For those interested in learning the craft of storytelling, Allison is set to teach a class on Saturday, April 12 and Sunday, April 13. For more info and registration for the class, check here.
Tickets for the show, $20, are going fast, so be sure to scoop up a seat online here.
In all likelihood, it’s going to be a hilarious and entertaining evening.
