This weekend, visitors to food mecca Reading Terminal Market should bring their sweet tooth.
The annual Sidewalk Sizzle And Ice Cream Freeze returns to the market this Saturday, July 19, bringing the culinary delights of the indoor bazaar outside to Filbert Street for an alfresco event brimming with freshly grilled eats and frozen treats.
The budget-friendly block-party-style celebration promises turkey legs, shrimp skewers, kabobs, hamburgers, Amish sausages, Bavarian pork sandwiches and even $1 hot dogs — all fresh off the grill!
Wursthaus Schmitz, Beck’s Cajun Cafe, Pearls Oyster Bar, Hatville Deli are just a few of the spots providing bites all day. Plus, there will be tons of frozen treats including ice cream from Bassett’s Ice Cream and Miller’s Twist.
Local band Blackbird Society Orchestra will provide tunes to make for the perfect outdoor summer celebration, and kid-friendly games and arts and crafts will entertain youngsters.
A full afternoon of ice cream-themed games run from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and include ice cream shuffleboard, ice cream eating contests and ice cream bean bag toss. For the complete schedule of events, check here.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and takes place outside of Reading Terminal Market on Filbert Street.
Access to the festival is totally free, but all food is pay as you go.
