The spa scene in Philadelphia is about to see a major upgrade.

Marking the culmination of The Rittenhouse hotel’s multi-million dollar enhancement, which began in 2012, The Rittenhouse Spa & Club – Hair by Paul Labrecque is nearly ready to be unveiled.

Scheduled to open late-summer 2014 — just weeks from now — the expansive spa, salon, barber shop, health club and retail facility will be furnished with all of the facilities, services and trimmings to make the 15,000-square-foot space a superlative lifestyle destination.

The new spa and salon will serve as a final complement to The Rittenhouse’s other recent additions and improvements, including its overall rebranding, refreshed guest rooms and event spaces, the Park Suites, as well as the revamped tea service at Mary Cassatt Tea Room and the posh new Library Bar.

Philadelphia-based BLT Architects, also known for its work on the Cira Centre and The Union League, served as the project architect to develop a fully outfitted spa and club made up of 10 treatment rooms (eight regular, one couples suite, one Spa Suite), a spa lounge, a 10-chair salon and barber shop, a full fitness facility, and locker rooms with steam, sauna and an indoor pool.

Led by spa director Kelly Gasspari, The Rittenhouse Spa has plans to offer the latest-and-greatest body treatments, relaxation therapy and beauty services — everything from basic of mani-pedis to exclusive HydraFacial treatments.

As for salon services, Hair by Paul Labrecque and The Barber Shop brings stylist and salon owner Paul Labrecque to open his first location outside of New York City.

In addition to the spa and salon, The Rittenhouse Club will feature a full scope of exercise equipment, men’s and women’s locker rooms with sauna and steam room, an indoor pool and an outdoor relaxation deck. Spa guests will have access to the club amenities, and health club memberships are available, too.

When the new space opens, services will be available seven days a week.

Whether looking to enjoy a vacation, a staycation or just an hour or two of pampering, the new spa space at The Rittenhouse might just make for the perfect urban getaway.
