Colorful characters and catchy songs abound when Mary Poppins whisks her way into Walnut Street Theatre, beginning this Tuesday, November 4 and continuing all the way through January 4, 2015.

Based on the popular Walt Disney film, Mary Poppins tells the tale of a nanny who magically appears at a household on Cherry Tree Lane in England to care for two children, Jane and Michael Banks.

We all know the story: the children, who are spoiled and unruly, are taken under the spell of Poppins and her sidekick, Bert, a man of varied talents, including chimney sweep.

Poppins takes her charges on fanciful adventures and she entertains them with irresistible songs such as “A Spoonful of Sugar,” “Feed the Birds,” “Step in Time,” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”

The Walnut Street Theatre’s audience, too, will certainly be entertained since this production offers all the fun, drama and thrills of the original story, plus great choreography and excellent stagecraft.

A surefire hit with the kids, the show is a spectacle that will get toes tapping and make for a great family-friendly holiday outing.

Tickets, starting at $24.50, are available online.
