One of Broadway’s biggest and most popular musicals showers its special brand of sunshine on Philadelphia when Annie comes to The Academy of Music , starting March 17.

This story of an indomitable little orphan girl and her scruffy stray dog sidekick who get taken in by a billionaire has charmed audiences for decades. The original late ’70s production won seven Tony Awards, and the show has since toured the world many times over.

The production that comes to the Academy, billed as a “brand new physical incarnation” of the iconic original, features the same storyline and songs of the original. Its beloved score includes a bevy of memorable tunes including “Maybe,” “It’s the Hard Knock Life,” “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile,” “Easy Street,” and of course, the triumphant anthem of optimism, “Tomorrow.”

In the musical Annie warms the hearts of everyone in her new-found home and she’ll melt yours too. It’s a sweet joyful show tailor-made for families. Although you may find your eyes misting up along the way, in the end everyone leaves with a smile.
