Everyone has an inner nerd. And soon, Philadelphia will welcome the return of a brilliant celebration of braininess.
The 2015 Philadelphia Science Festival (PSF) arrives April 24 through May 2, with more than 100 smart events scheduled at venues throughout the city and beyond for a nine-day celebration of science and technology.
Organized by the clever folks at The Franklin Institute and presented by The Dow Chemical Company, the Philadelphia Science Festival is now in its fifth year and poised to be bigger, better and brighter than ever before.
In 2015, more than 200 diverse partners have signed on to join in this year’s festivities — from the Philadelphia Phillies and Yards Brewing Company to Monell Chemical Senses Center and The Wistar Institute and many, many more.
In past years, the festival has grown exponentially, and with the awesome assembly of happenings on tap for 2015, there’s no doubt this year’s Science Festival will continue to draw crowds and engage audiences with the wonders of science.
Kicking off on Friday, April 24, the 2015 Philadelphia Science Festival is set to throw down with a tremendous event: a huge kick-off party after hours at The Franklin Institute.
The PSF Kick-Off Party: 8-Bit Night will launch the fest with a night all about classic video games. Crowds will get hands-on with more than 50 interactive activities, rock out to video game-inspired music and enjoy the first tastes of the official 2015 Science Festival beer made by Yards Brewing Company, dubbed Parallel Brewniverse.
Beyond the kickoff, the festival continues through May 2 with tons of happenings, most of which are presented for a small fee or are free of charge, including the outdoor Science Carnival on the Parkway street fair on Saturday, May 2.
The huge variety of events incorporate everything from family-friendly educational outings to after-dark events that prove science lessons aren’t just for kids. Just to name a few highlights, folks should look for a city-wide Astronomy Night on Friday, April 24, Discovery Day on Saturday, April 25, Explorer Sunday on Sunday, April 26 and the Fishtown Science Crawl on Sunday, April 26.
