Philadelphia’s First Ever Major Cheesesteak Festival Is Coming This Fall

A photo posted by Visit Philly (@visitphilly) on

This fall, Philadelphia’s first-ever major Cheesesteak Festival will hit Lincoln Financial Field. The festival will feature cheesesteaks from more than 40 vendors, the construction of the world’s longest cheesesteak and a cheesesteak eating competition. It hits on Saturday, October 24.

Philadelphia has never really had a massive cheesesteak festival, so this sounds like a pretty great idea, and is probably long overdue.

Among other things, attendees will get to sample cheesesteaks from top vendors across the city. Complete vendor details have not yet been announced, but expect a range of cheesesteak shops, including tried-and-true favorites as well as some of the new upstarts.

And, yes, a 450-foot cheesesteak will be constructed on site in an attempt to break the world record.

In addition to cheesesteak-themed fun, there will also be shopping, live entertainment, carnival games and much more.

Tickets are $20/$40/$60 – $20 for general admission, which is just access to the festival; $40 for admission with 10 cheesesteak samples and a t-shirt; and $60 for 20 cheesesteak samples, a t-shirt, access to a private dining area and tickets for zip lining and a mechanical bull. Tickets are available online.

Since we’re still a few months out, we’ve included some delicious cheesesteak shots for, uh, inspiration.

Stay tuned for more info in the weeks to come.

  1. Denofa’s Italian Deli
    6946 Torresdale Ave.
In the Tacony section of Philadelphia
Is one of the BEST cheesesteaks around!
Fresh sliced sirloin chipped steak , done on the premises

  2. Will there be glutenough free chicken cheese steaks made at the festival. I don’t eat read meat! Please reply if so I’m there.

  3. Will there be gluten free chicken cheese steaks made at the festival. I don’t eat red meat! Please reply if so I’m there.

  4. If Pats and Genos And Tony Lukes is there…. This thing is BOGUS…. They are the three WORST steaks on the PLANET!!!

  5. I’m all for trying the cheesesteaks, but will they be pre made with all toppings ir can you order to taste? I can do anything but plain steak and cheese.

  6. I’m a steak vendor in nj & would like to take part in the event. Who do I contact to sign up. Domenic

  7. Best cheesesteak I have ever had Lorenzo’s in West Chester. Do not knock them until you try it.

  8. Hubby and I can’t wait for this event! Will Maxx’s Steaks be one of the vendors? LOVE their cheesesteaks, but not a fan of the neighborhood.

  9. Abner’s is No.1 and Larry’s No. 2. Both establishments are clean and serve fresh meat, bread and cheese’s. I have eaten many cheesesteaks throughout the City including at 2 of the top competitors in S. Philly and they are no match to Larry’s and Abner’s. I have taken people who come to visit me to the longtime favorites in S.Philly and none have enjoyed the cheesesteaks as much as Abner’s and Larry’s. Also what’s good about my top choices are they prepare the food while you watch. This says something about a restaurant that works under a microscope…we have nothing to hide about how we prepare your food.

  10. October 24, 2016 is a Monday not a Saturday. Date listed is incorrect. So when is this taking place?

  11. Hi Nancy,
