As the Independence Day holiday draws near, Philadelphia neighborhoods turn up the action with a ton of events all around town.

In Philly July 4th tradition, Wawa Welcome America presents a free screening of Rocky at the Art Museum steps at 9 p.m. tonight. Take a seat on the iconic steps and watch the hometown story unfold.

Tonight, Uptown Beer Garden — Center City’s newest beer garden — opens its doors just in time for Center City Sips. Celebrate night one of the new alfresco hangout with $5 cocktails, $4 wine, $3 beer and half-priced appetizers.

In East Passyunk, extended happy hour, sales and live music reign at a number of bars, restaurants and shops in the neighborhood as the Passyunk Passeggiata continues.

Free Screening of Rocky at the Art Museum Steps

Grab a seat on the iconic steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and watch the Italian Stallion’s famous run during a free screening of the Philadelphia-based classic Rocky during Philly @ The Movies. Grab a blanket and head to the steps to catch the film, which is slated to start at 9 p.m.

The Bearded Ladies at the PHS Pop-Up Gardens

Tonight, the Bearded Ladies Cabaret debuts a brand-new show at the PHS Pop-Up Garden in East Passyunk. The hour-long cabaret will bring plants, flowers, weeds and produce to life as the characters tell a song- and dance-centric story about the lives of greenery and their planters. Throughout the shows, guests can look forward to adaptations of music from the likes Bill Withers, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, RaeLynn and Faith Hill — and audience participation, too. The show is pay-what-you-wish, but the suggested donation is $15 to $20.
