Roundup: New Dates For Rained-Out Philadelphia Festivals This Fall

Rainy weather this past weekend meant a number of festival postponements in Philadelphia. Luckily, most of the rained-out festivals are simply pushing their festivals forward a week or two to bring you the same fun-filled event that you expected.

Many of the postponed festivals are taking place this weekend, which adds even more fun to your Columbus Day weekend.

For beer-lovers, the Institute Bar puts the spotlight on pumpkin beers and the Roxborough neighborhood celebrates the neighborhood with local beer, food, games and more.

Read on for the new dates for the rained-out fall festivals.

Great Pumpkin Festival at The Institute

Get your pumpkin beer on at The Institute Bar’s annual Great Pumpkin Festival. From 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., the festival pours more than 90 pumpkin beers and ciders, in addition to pumpkin cocktail, and spans both inside and out at the Callowhill bar. Note that the event is ticketed — but tickets include all-you-can-drink booze.

The neighborhood of Roxborough celebrates Oktoberfest with Roxtoberfest, an afternoon-long festival for the whole family. Adults can enjoy beer gardens and local beer, and the whole family can enjoy carnival rides, music, games and more.

Food and Craft Festival in Media

More than 50 restaurants and 75 vendors will set up shop in downtown Media for the annual Food and Craft Festival on October 11. Browse food and goods from local businesses while enjoying live music and family-friendly activities.

Opera on the Mall

On Friday, October 16, Opera Philadelphia presents the 2015 edition of Opera on the Mall, a free HD broadcast of the opera La traviata on the iconic grounds of Independence Mall. Online registration is required.

North Philly Block Party

Mural Arts’ Open Source festival presents an afternoon-long block party right next two two Open Source artists’ pop-up open-to-the-public bodega space. Throughout the festival, you can feast on food from local restaurants, groove to live music, mingle with the artists and more.
