Get Ready For The 2016 Flower Show With Bloom Philly Happenings February 20-March 3

Before the 2016 Flower Show debuts, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society presents floral-focused events all around town.

In anticipation of the 2016 Philadelphia Flower Show, which returns on Saturday, March 5 and runs through Sunday, March 13, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society presents a series of excitement-building events under the banner of the Bloom Philly festival.

From tomorrow, February 20, through Thursday, March 3, PHS rolls out events that add some springlike fun to winter routines while gearing up for the 2016 Flower Show and its theme, “Explore America: 100 Years of the National Park Service.”

The events kick off on Saturday, February 20 with a window and lobby decorating contest at more than 100 museums, restaurants and hotels throughout Philadelphia. Keep an eye out for flowery displays at spots in Center City and beyond.

Starting on Saturday, February 20, The Franklin Institute opens National Parks Adventure, an IMAX about the country's beautiful national parks that is narrated by Robert Redford.

Flower Show Run Into Spring 5K

This Sunday, athletes can lace up their sneakers and head out for a flower-themed 5K run throughout Martin Luther King Drive. The run starts at 8:30 a.m. and registration ranges from $35 to $55 — $55 registration includes a flower show ticket. Runners are encouraged to dress up as their favorite plant or flower, too.

Pack a picnic and head for Filbert Street outside of Reading Terminal Market for the ultimate pop-up picnic. After (or before) devouring your packed lunch, enjoy an array of free outdoor activities like corn hole, giant Jenga, giant Connect 4 and live music.

Sips and Skate at Rothman Institute Ice Rink

PHS takes over Dilworth Park for the final Sips and Skate event of the winter. Guests of the ice skating and happy hour promotion can take in sites of spring with a beautiful flower installation.
