Philly Bierfest Celebrates German-Style Brews With 30+ Varieties

Head to the 5th annual Bierfest for tastings, education, music and more.

From pilsners and lagers to doppelbocks and dunkels, Pennsylvania has a long history of brewing German-style beer.

To honor our hoppy heritage, the German Society of Pennsylvania hosts its fifth annual Bierfest, a world-class beer tasting event, on Saturday, February 27.

The celebration features German-style beers from more than thirty brands. Local brewers like Barren Hill Tavern & Brewery, Lion Brewery, Stoudts Brewing Co. and Yards Brewing Co. are slated to participate, and German beers imported from companies like HofBräu Munich, Hacker-Pschorr, Kloster Andechs will also be poured.

The action will be spread throughout two beer halls at the German Society of Pennsylvania. The fierce females from the Philly Roller Derby will perform variety acts like arm wrestling and Berlin-style BEERlesque shows. Live music from Polkadelphia and the Keystone Mountain Boys will also entertain the crowds.

This family-friendly festival even includes an educational program that guests can experience in fun ways, like sampling at the Sam Adams Lager Learning Lounge or playing Beer Quizzo.

Tickets range from $20 for kids and designated drivers to $78 for VIP Plus packages, which include early admission, a keepsake mug and an exclusive beer-and-cheese-pairing seminar.

Proceeds from Bierfest benefit Philly Roller Derby and Brewers of Pennsylvania.
