As you may have heard, three Philly colleges have made the Big Dance. Villanova, Temple and St. Joe’s all made the tournament after impressive regular seasons for all three teams. Villanova enters as a #2 seed, Temple as a #10 seed and St. Joe’s as a #8 seed.
All three teams will play this Friday, in what is sure to be an exciting day for fans of local college hoops. Villanova and Temple both play afternoon games in Brooklyn and St. Joe’s plays Friday night in Spokane, WA.
Friday is the day to show off your Philly pride and root for all three Big 5 teams in the Big Dance.
Beyond the qualifying games this Friday, Philadelphia takes the honor of hosting the NCAA Tournament East Regional rounds next weekend, March 25 and 27. Basketball fans can catch the East Regional Sweet 16 and Elite 8 rounds at the Wells Fargo Center and see which team will advance to the Final Four. Unfortunately for Philly fans, none of the three Philly teams are in the East Region’s bracket.
#2 Villanova vs. #15 UNC Asheville: March 18, 12:40 p.m.
Philadelphia’s highest-ranked team takes the court at 12:40 p.m. #2 Villanova plays UNC Asheville at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The game will air on Tru TV and NCAA’s March Madness Live.
#10 Temple vs. #7 Iowa: March 18, 3:10 p.m.
Also on Friday, #10 Temple faces #7 Iowa in the afternoon game directly following the completion of Villanova’s game at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Catch the game on Tru TV or NCAA’s March Madness Live.
#8 St. Joe’s vs. #9 Cincinnati: March 18, 9:57 p.m.
