The popular department store is home to two of the city’s most celebrated holiday experiences....

During the holiday season in Philadelphia, Macy’s Center City is more than just a great place to cross names off of your gift list. Each year, the department store draws droves of spectators to its annual Christmas Light Show and Dickens Village display.

Fast Facts

  • The Christmas Light Show runs from Friday, November 25 – Saturday, December 31 (except Christmas Day).
  • The show takes place in Macy’s Grand Court.
  • Admission is free.

Held in the four-story Grand Court, the Christmas Light Show incorporates upwards of 100,000 LED lights that twinkle and move to create classic holiday imagery on a massive screen. The show features some of the season’s most iconic sights, including the Sugar Plum Fairy, Frosty the Snowman and a 40-foot-tall Christmas tree decorated with more than 34,000 lights.

The dazzling visuals are narrated by the legendary Julie Andrews and accompanied by Christmas music recorded on the world-renowned Wanamaker Grand Organ. Note that for shows starting at noon (except on Sundays) and shows starting at 6 p.m. (except Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays), the finale of the show is accompanied by festive music played live on the organ.

The Christmas Light Show runs from Friday, November 25 through New Year’s Eve. Check the calendar online for a daily schedule of showtimes.

But wait – there’s more!

Dickens Village

More than 100 animated figures help bring this tale to life, recreating Ebenezer Scrooge, Tiny Tim and other well-known characters.

Dickens Village will be open daily from Friday, November 25 through New Year’s Eve – except for Christmas Day.
