Philly Tech Week Tracks

Philly Tech Week’s 100-plus events — which touch upon nearly every aspect of the technology world — are categorized into seven tracks:  Access, Business, Civic, Creative, Media, Dev and Sciences.

Access Track

In the Access track, discussions and activities center around the topics of diversity and education issues that affect everyday citizens. Tech Week-goers are invited to join events such as The Business Advantage of Diversity (a luncheon and panel assessing the current state of diversity within Philadelphia’s tech community) and Accessibility Hacks: Keeping Tech Inclusive for Everyone (designed to share strategies and tactics for creating tech that’s accessible for people with disabilities).

Business Track

The Business track calls upon startup leaders, venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and more to share their stories with the public. Events include Out to Launch, where some of Philly’s newest, most innovative products will debut, and Tech in Restaurants, delving into online platforms and tech usage in the food industry.

Civic Track and Science Track

Meanwhile, the Civic track looks at the impact of technology on government and civil society with events such as The Dark Side of Technology and The Self-Navigating Region, and the Science track pulls leaders together from health care, sciences, economic development, public health and academia fields for discussions including Interoperability in 2020: What Philly is Doing Today to Shape Healthcare Tomorrow and Brain Based Learning in the Virtual Classroom.

Creative Track and Media Track

The Creative track dives into the intersection between art and technology, inviting visitors to attend a free, make-your-own electronic music night, a collaborative Design Slam and more, while the Media track discusses tech coverage and promotion, and includes the third annual Rad Awards, recognizing female individuals who lead and inspire in this area. (Look out for VISIT PHILADELPHIA’s own Senior Media Relations Manager Jenea Robinson who was nominated for Storyteller of the Year!)

Dev Track

Last but not least, the Dev track — short for web and product development — is where hackathonsapp demo days and more draw programmers, designers, developers and project managers together to stir up ideas and spawn new innovation.
