Get ready to celebrate: Parkway 100 – a 14-month-long birthday bash celebrating the Benjamin Franklin Parkway – kicks off this Friday with museum admission deals at six awesome Parkway attractions.
Philadelphia’s cultural powerhouse and preeminent boulevard turns 100 (!) this year. To honor the occasion, a series of events and exhibitions entitled Parkway 100 will unfold starting this Friday, September 8 and lasting through November 16, 2018.
Parkway 100’s “We Are Connected” Festival on opening day brings a slew of fun happenings to the Parkway, including admission deals at six of the area’s venerable museums. On Friday from 4 to 9 p.m., score free or pay-what-you-wish admission at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, The Franklin Institute, the Barnes Foundation, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Rodin Museum and The Galleries at Moore.
As part of the “We Are Connected” Festival for Parkway 100’s kickoff, two of the institutions offering free admission — the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University and the Moore College of Art and Design — are also hosting a joint block party. Swing by Race Street between 19th and 20th streets anytime from 4-10 p.m. to enjoy live entertainment ranging from jazz music to dancing to improv performances, along with snacks and drinks at an outdoor beer garden.
