Looking for dope art, global eats, black history, vintage finds and ‘gram-worthy parks? We got you.
Check out our new Visit Philly travel series, We Got You: Philly by Tarik, to follow Tarik “Black Thought” Trotter of Grammy Award-winning hip-hop band The Roots as he explores Philly’s arts scene, foodie spots, live music venues, historic sites and more.
In the five-webisode series, Tarik shares some of Philly’s finest with his friends — trendsetters and influencers Luvvie Ajayi, Tai Beauchamp, Rakia Reynolds, Dustin Ross, Danny Simmons, Vanessa Simmons and Cory Townes.
The documentary-style series taps into the energy of the black travel movement and takes viewers on a tour of only-in-Philly experiences.
Watch for sites that show off the city’s arts and culture like Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, the African American Museum in Philadelphia and SOUTH Kitchen & Jazz Parlor. And look out for Philly’s nationally recognized restaurants like Max’s Steaks, Fez Moroccan and La Colombe.
Then, take in the storied history of Germantown and Philadephia’s Seventh Ward at the Johnson House Historic Site and Mother Bethel A.M.E. Church. Shop along with Tarik at fresh boutiques like Lapstone and Hammer, Jinxed and Cultured Couture.
“The music is hot, everyone’s style is on point, and there’s swagger for days.” — Skift
Since the series and accompanying advertising campaign debuted on September 12, recognition has already dropped on We Got You from outlets like The Philadelphia Tribune, Philadelphia Business Journal and Blavity.
The travel industry experts at Skift endorse the series, too, saying, “The hosts are young but old enough to be smart, the music is hot, everyone’s style is on point, and there’s swagger for days.”
