Philadelphia chefs, restaurateurs and restaurants nabbed four nominations in the 2018 James Beard Awards, dubbed “The Oscars of the Food World” by Time Magazine.
From a pool of 20 semifinalists, the final five nominees in each category were announced today from an event right here in Philadelphia (which was sponsored in part by VISIT PHILADELPHIA) at Parc restaurant — one of 2017 James Beard Award-winning Outstanding Restaurateur Stephen Starr’s most-popular spots.
Philadelphia restaurants and chefs rose to the top once again this year, repping the City of Brotherly Love in this national competition.
Among the nominees, Zahav is up for the award for Outstanding Service and its chef Camille Cogswell is nominated for Rising Star Chef of the Year. Rich Landau of Vedge is on the shortlist for Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic and Ellen Yin of High Street Hospitality Group (Fork, High Street on Market, High Street on Hudson, and others) is up for Outstanding Restaurateur.

Last year, Philly won big at the annual James Beard Foundation Awards, with Philly’s own chef Michael Solomonov, restauranteur Stephen Starr and chef Greg Vernick each taking home a prestigious James Beard Foundation Award.
We predict the 2018 event will be no less thrilling for the Philadelphia culinary community.
