Long Weekend Picks: Sail Philadelphia, Free Fireworks Show, Memorial Day Weekend Events, Bok Bar And More

Enjoy your extended holiday weekend at one (or more!) of these 60 exciting events...

Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of summer — and this one is full of ways to welcome some of the most fun months of the year in Philly.

Sail Philadelphia celebrates Philadelphia’s maritime history with a five-day festival — set to welcome 180,000 people! — featuring tall ships, sailing excursions, ship tours, live entertainment and other festivities along the waterfront. Plus, a major highlight of this holiday weekend isn’t far away thanks to Saturday’s stunning fireworks show, also on the Delaware River waterfront!

At Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest, attendees can roller skate to your heart’s delight, ride a giant Ferris wheel or play carnival games on the Midway. Looking to lounge? Spruce Street Harbor Park and its bright lights and hammocks are just a short walk away from Summerfest.

The Chinese Lantern Festival continues to light up Franklin Square all weekend thanks to creative, intricate designs. Stroll through the festival for some memorable pictures or a brew from the beer garden.

Sports fans are also in luck this weekend: The surging Phillies take on the Toronto Blue Jays for a three-game series at Citizens Bank Park. Batter up!

Finally, brush up on your history with Memorial Day programming at cultural institutions like the Museum of the American Revolution and the National Constitution Center.

We’ll be out celebrating Memorial Day on Monday, so we’re extending our Weekend Picks post through the holiday. We will be back first thing Tuesday with Picks of the Week for next week.
