Weekend Picks: The Oval+ Opening, Rodin Museum Garden Bar, Lancaster Avenue Jazz And Arts Festival & More

Enjoy one (or more!) of more than 75 events happening around Philadelphia this weekend...

Look out, Philly: Nearly 100 super-fun events are going on citywide this weekend!

Seasonal park and summertime hangout The Oval+ opens on Friday for its fifth summer with public art, a beer garden, special events and activities at Eakins Oval across from the Philadelphia Museum of Art. New this year: an extended pedestrian promenade that runs almost half the length of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

On Saturday, the Lancaster Avenue Jazz and Arts Festival returns to bring live jazz, an art fair, food trucks and children’s activities to Saunders Park Greene in West Philadelphia, while The Philly POPS kick off Summer Sounds in the Square, a new series of recurring performances at Franklin Square that’s part of Summer Sounds in the Historic District.

It’s also the last chance to score savings at more than 30 participating restaurants during University City Dining Days, which ends on Sunday. Two performing arts shows — the BalletX Summer Series and Mamma Mia! — also wrap up their runs on Sunday.

And, of course, outdoor attractions like Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest and Spruce Street Harbor Park offer open-air entertainment for all ages.
