Weekend Picks: Philly Free Streets, The Oval+, Jazz On The Ave And More

Have fun in the sun (or in the air conditioning!) at more than 70 events in Philly this weekend...

Another August weekend brings more great things to do in the City of Brotherly Love.

Philly Free Streets is back! From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, a four-mile stretch of North Broad Street from City Hall to Erie Avenue will be free of car traffic and full of games, activities (including The Beach on North Broad, boasting 50 tons of sand!), food vendors and more.

Also in North Philadelphia on Saturday, the Beech Jazz on the Ave Festival features stellar live musicians, vendors and games at what has become a popular annual tradition.

And The Oval+ on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway has another great weekend of activities lined up on top of its pedestrian promenade that runs almost half the length of the Parkway, 800-square-foot misting pavilion, cold drinks in a tree-shaded beer garden and food truck fare.

We’re including happenings on Monday, August 13 in this edition of Weekend Picks because August is a great time for a long summer weekend in Philly, especially with the Visit Philly Overnight Hotel Package. The package includes more than $250 in free perks, including free hotel parking and free tickets and experiences from the Museum of the American Revolution, Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest, CHeU Noodle restaurants, Franklin Square, PHLASH and Lyft.
