Long Weekend Picks: Midtown Village Fall Festival, Old City Fest, Philadelphia OutFest And More

A month full of epic weekends kicks off with more than 100 things to do...

Welcome to the first weekend of October, Philly!

Several of the city’s most anticipated fall events are on this weekend’s roster. Midtown Village hosts two major festivals — Saturday’s Midtown Village Fall Fest neighborhood fair and Sunday’s National Coming Out Day celebration, OutFest. The fun continues Sunday in the Historic District during Old City Fest with more crafts and exhibitions.

Diners can grab one last Center City District Restaurant Week special before the event wraps up for the season Friday. More than 100 restaurants serve three-course, prix-fixe lunches and dinners from their impressive menus.

The always-popular Oktoberfest at 23rd Street Armory is back for a third year with a two-day extravaganza of Bavarian food, German brews and live oompah music.

Those looking to take advantage of a long weekend can start with First Friday events around the city, and continue right through Monday with Indigenous Peoples Day events. Make it a sleepover with the Visit Philly Overnight Hotel Package, featuring free hotel parking and $193 in free perks.

We’re off duty for Columbus Day on Monday, so we’re extending our Weekend Picks post through the holiday. We’ll be back first thing Tuesday to fill you in on all of the great events, exhibitions and festivals happening next week.
