Weekend Picks: Winter Activities, Film Festivals, Arts Celebrations And More

Celebrate cultures and the changing seasons all weekend long...

Get ready for a full weekend, Philly!

Winter holiday events kick off on Friday with the opening of the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink and Cabin as well as the Wintergarden in Dilworth Park, all part of the citywide Philly Holiday Festival. And in Bucks County, Santa Claus flips the switch on one million holiday lights at the beginning of Christmas in Peddler’s Village.

On the arts front, the storytelling-focused First Person Arts Festival and the annual CraftNOW celebration continue, while the Gershman Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival and Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival bring their cultures to the big screen at venues all over the city.

Those looking for outdoor activities can check out the leisurely Philly Tweed Ride and picnic Saturday or Sly Fox Brewing Company’s annual beer-and-bikes adventure course at Cyclocross Sunday.

The weekend lineup also includes a Diwali Festival of Lights celebration at Reading Terminal Market, a Broadway performance of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and more.

Make it a weekend to remember by booking the Visit Philly Overnight Hotel Package, featuring up to $193 in perks.
